Job Purpose
To operate a Code EC truck for the Water Section, ensuring the safe loading, transportation, and offloading of materials and water. The driver will execute daily tasks as directed to support maintenance, repairs, and effective service delivery for the municipality’s water infrastructure and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive a Code EC truck, and perform loading/offloading of materials and water as required.
- Plan and execute daily tasks and routes according to instructions and work orders from the Foreman/Supervisor.
- Perform basic administrative duties related to trips, vehicle checks, and loads.
- Manage and maintain the assigned vehicle, performing pre- and post-trip inspections and reporting faults.
- Assist with other general work within the Water Section when driving duties are not required.
- Perform any other related Ad Hoc tasks and duties as requested by management.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Grade 10 qualification.
- Valid Driver’s Licence Code EC (14) with a valid Public Driver’s Permit (PDP).
- Two (2) years of relevant driving experience within a Local Government Authority or similar environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be a hard-working and self-disciplined person.
Advantageous Qualifications:
- Grade 12 certificate.
- Additional experience in a municipal services or water services environment.
