Job Description & Key Objectives
As a Shop Assistant/Cashier, you will be responsible for:
Point of Sale & Cash Handling
- Efficiently execute all operational activities at the point of sale in a timely manner.
- Maintain high levels of accuracy when scanning merchandise, processing payments, and actioning clubcard rewards.
- Ensure the safe handling of cash at all times.
Customer Service & Sales
- Deliver superior customer service by acting as a brand ambassador, being visible, and offering friendly, professional assistance.
- Proactively promote the Clicks clubcard, enrolling new members to achieve participation targets.
- Inform customers about current promotions to positively influence sales and enhance their shopping experience.
- Maintain updated knowledge on all products, ranges, and promotions to provide correct information.
Merchandising & Housekeeping
- Efficiently execute and maintain all merchandising and general housekeeping duties according to store and visual merchandise standards.
- Support the store in maintaining a neat, welcoming, and well-presented shopping environment.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Education:
- Grade 12 certificate.
Desirable Education:
- Mathematics 50% and English 50% at Grade 12 level.
Experience:
- Desirable: Experience in a customer-facing role within a retail/FMCG store operations environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
Knowledge:
- Basic maths calculations.
- Understanding of retail/FMCG operations, merchandising, and promotions principles.
- Knowledge of stock management procedures and customer service excellence.
Skills:
- Planning, organising, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong customer orientation and good communication skills.
- Computer literacy and numeracy skills.
Competencies:
