Job Purpose
To fabricate, install, and repair items from metal sheets, ensuring all work meets required standards. The role involves diagnosing issues, overseeing subcontractors, and managing maintenance services to support smooth production operations, including preventative maintenance, safety, and productivity initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate, install, and repair metal sheet components, ductwork, and products.
- Diagnose and repair issues with existing sheet metal installations.
- Control and direct the activities of subordinates and external contractors.
- Manage efficient maintenance support services and preventative maintenance programs.
- Ensure all work complies with the OHS Act, food safety standards, and other regulations.
- Liaise with suppliers and contractors to support production needs.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Grade 12, preferably with Mathematics and Science.
- Qualified Sheet Metal Worker (Trade Test / Red Seal).
- At least 3-5 years of hands-on experience in an FMCG or similar manufacturing environment.
- Good understanding of milling equipment and exposure to food safety audits.
Knowledge:
- Good understanding of the Labour Relations Act (LRA), OHS Act, and Food Safety protocols.
Skills & Competencies:
- Good planning, organisational, and people management skills.
- Fluent in English (read, write, speak) and computer literate (MS Office).
- Pressure resilient, tenacious, accurate, precise, and a committed team player with strong attention to detail.
Leadership Competencies:
- Drive, initiative, stakeholder relationship building, cross-cultural awareness, impact, performance facilitation, decisive insight, and communication skills.
