Job Purpose
To safely and efficiently transport goods and materials, including abnormal loads, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, vehicle maintenance, and regulatory compliance. The role involves operating complex vehicles and cranes in a high-stakes industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform vehicle maintenance checks and ensure roadworthiness.
- Safely load, transport, and deliver goods and materials.
- Ensure full compliance with all road traffic, transportation, and delivery regulations.
- Operate hydraulic truck-mounted cranes and execute crane movements.
- Work as part of a team, often in multi-tractor applications for abnormal loads.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Certifications:
- Grade 12.
- Valid and unendorsed Code 14 driver’s licence.
- Valid Public Driver’s Permit (PDP).
- Relevant Crane Driving qualification.
Essential Experience:
- 3 years’ related experience on inter-link or abnormal load vehicles.
- 2 years’ experience on other heavy-duty vehicles.
- Hands-on experience with Hydraulic Truck Mounted Cranes.
- Knowledge and experience of driving Abnormal load tractors in both multi-tractor and solo applications.
Knowledge:
- In-house defensive driving evaluation.
- Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Road Traffic Act.
- Identifying hazardous conditions and reading crane hand signals.
- Quality and safety systems.
Skills & Attributes:
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
- Customer-oriented, innovative, honest, reliable, and team-oriented.
- Literate, with stress tolerance and the ability to work long hours.
- Physically able to handle heavy objects.
