Job Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to be responsible for the designing, conceptualising, and development of creative concepts for the entire AVBOB Group. The designer will translate business and marketing objectives into compelling visual communications across both print and digital mediums, ensuring brand consistency and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Design & Conceptualisation

  • Design, conceptualise, and develop creative concepts and their application for the Group (TTL – Through-the-Line).
  • Create and design the quarterly edition of the corporate publication, “The Society”.
  • Provide visual translation of proactive ideas from various business sectors within the Group.
  • Assist with signage design and campaign visuals to strengthen brand engagement.

Production & Supplier Management

  • Brief production suppliers and oversee/direct the services of suppliers commissioned by AVBOB.
  • Ensure all external deliverables meet brand standards and quality expectations.

Digital Design & Internal Support

  • Demonstrate proficiency in digital design, creating responsive web and mobile interfaces aligned with UX best practices.
  • Design, maintain, and enhance the Group’s internal communication tools and mechanisms.
  • Assist in entrenching company culture through disciplined visual communication of values and strategy.
  • Provide mentoring/training to subordinates as required.
  • Coordinate complex assignments/projects that may require work outside normal hours.

Minimum Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

  • Matric (Grade 12).
  • 3-year National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.

Essential Experience:

  • 3 – 5 years of relevant experience in Design, Corporate Communications, Journalism, and/or Public Relations.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Must be highly computer literate with expertise in:
    • Mac operating system.
    • The full Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.).
  • Proven experience in digital/UI design for web and mobile.

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong conceptual and creative thinking abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to brand governance.
  • Effective client service and communication skills (internal stakeholders).
  • Project coordination and supplier management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage complex projects.
  • Mentoring and team collaboration skills.
