Job Purpose
To support diverse operational and environmental rehabilitation tasks at the Durnacol site. The General Worker will assist in rehabilitating mined areas, operate and maintain tools like brush cutters, perform cleaning duties, and proactively uphold the highest safety standards to foster a secure and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in environmental rehabilitation: fill cracks, plant grass, remove weeds.
- Operate and maintain small tools and brush cutters safely and effectively.
- Conduct pre-use inspections and routine maintenance checks on all equipment.
- Perform waste removal, cleaning tasks, and general support duties as instructed.
- Strictly comply with all safety regulations, always wearing required PPE.
- Identify, rectify, and report unsafe practices or hazardous situations.
- Support supervisors and foremen in daily operational activities.
- Collaborate with the team to contribute to continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Grade 10 / Standard 8.
- AET Level 4.
- 0-6 months of relevant job-specific experience.
- Must pass Exxaro’s Psychometric Assessment and obtain a Certificate of Fitness.
Skills and Attributes:
- Ability to adhere strictly to safety regulations and operating procedures.
- Capability to identify and report unsafe practices and hazards.
- Experience or proficiency in operating and maintaining equipment (e.g., brush cutters).
- Strong commitment to promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
- Good collaboration, problem-solving skills, and teamwork.
- Physically fit for labour-intensive tasks.
