Position Overview:
Cashbuild, South Africa’s leading building materials retailer, is seeking a dedicated General Assistant for our Bochum branch. This critical frontline role combines customer service excellence with operational efficiency to maintain our reputation as the most trusted retailer in the building materials sector. Key Responsibilities:
Customer Engagement & Service Excellence
- Provide knowledgeable assistance to customers regarding product selection, pricing, and availability
- Resolve customer complaints with professionalism and in accordance with company policies
- Process basic calculations for bulk purchases and special orders
Store Operations & Visual Merchandising
- Execute daily planogram implementations to optimize product visibility
- Maintain impeccable store standards including shelf labeling and aisle cleanliness
- Manage stock rotation to minimize expired/damaged inventory
- Complete mandatory checklists for canteen and facility maintenance
Health & Safety Compliance
- Strictly adhere to OHSA regulations including proper use of PPE
- Identify and report potential safety hazards in storage and customer areas
- Ensure all merchandising meets safety standards for customer and staff movement
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Minimum Grade 10/NQF 3 (with 1 year retail experience) OR Grade 12 certificate
- Language: Fluency in English and Sepedi (or dominant local language)
- Skills: Basic numeracy, problem-solving, and physical stamina for lifting/moving stock
- Availability: Must work flexible shifts including weekends/public holidays
- Attributes: Integrity, attention to detail, and passion for customer satisfaction
