Job Purpose
To perform maintenance and development of Environmental Management System (EMS) landscapes and facilities using various horticultural equipment and tools. This is a labour-intensive role focused on ensuring the upkeep, cleanliness, and aesthetic presentation of Rand Water’s sites and servitudes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general site maintenance of landscapes and facilities, including cleaning, sweeping, watering, and planting.
- Apply fertilizers, mulches, and composts as directed.
- Operate horticultural machinery such as brush cutters, lawnmowers, and knapsack sprayers.
- Cut grass within Bulk Water Distribution Reservoir sites and servitudes.
- Load and offload goods, machines, plants, and debris.
- Support with decoration and special landscaping projects when required.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Grade 12 or N3 qualification.
- 6 Months experience in a similar horticultural or landscaping environment.
- Ability to operate horticultural machines (brush cutters, lawnmowers, knapsack).
Knowledge:
- Use of hand tools and basic horticultural equipment.
- Basic plant knowledge.
- Basic safety knowledge and protocols.
Skills & Attitude:
- Good communication skills.
- Practical horticultural skills.
- Must be a team player, safety-conscious, and customer-oriented.
- Physically fit for labour-intensive work.
Advantageous Qualifications
- Any formal horticultural or landscaping training/certificate.
