Purpose of the Role
To safely and efficiently operate forklifts for the loading, offloading, movement, and storage of cargo within the airport warehouse environment, including cold storage areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a forklift to load, unload, stack, and move cargo and pallets.
- Handle airfreight cargo in strict accordance with airport and safety regulations.
- Ensure the correct placement of goods in both general warehouse and cold storage areas.
- Conduct daily forklift inspections (pre-start checks) and report any faults immediately.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all cargo movements.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and security procedures at all times.
- Assist with general warehouse duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12) certificate.
- Valid forklift license (essential).
- 2–3 years’ proven experience as a forklift driver.
- Warehouse experience, preferably in a cargo or logistics environment.
- Physically fit and able to work shifts (including possible weekends/nights).
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Must have a valid ACSA (Airports Company South Africa) permit.
Advantageous Experience
- Cold storage or refrigerated warehouse experience.
Skills & Competencies
- Good hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Safety-conscious mindset.
- Ability to follow instructions precisely.
