Job Purpose
To operate a heavy-duty forklift (capacity exceeding 6,000 kg) for the loading, unloading, moving, and stacking of goods and pallets within a fast-paced poultry abattoir and warehouse setting, ensuring all activities align with strict safety and operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily pre-shift forklift inspections and complete checklists.
- Operate the forklift to assist with picking, staging, loading, unloading, and storing products.
- Assist truck drivers with timely unloading of vehicles.
- Assist in repacking sales orders and loading outbound orders.
- Immediately report all damage and product shrinkage as per company policy.
- Follow all safe forklift operating procedures at all times.
- Perform any other duties as required by management.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent.
- Valid Forklift Licence for heavy-duty equipment (>6,000 kg).
- At least 1 year of experience as a Forklift Driver in a similar manufacturing, warehouse, or plant environment.
- A clear criminal record.
- Must be able and willing to work overtime, shifts, and weekends as required.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced plant/warehouse setting.
- Exposed to loud noise, moving machinery, extreme temperatures, and dust.
Skills and Abilities Required
- Good communication and excellent client service skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to function both independently and as part of a team.
