Job Purpose
To safely operate a Code 10 vehicle for the transportation of personnel, materials, and equipment, ensuring compliance with road traffic legislation and site-specific safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Compliance:
- Operate vehicles in full compliance with the National Road Traffic Act, company policies, and all site-specific safety rules.
- Conduct daily pre-trip vehicle inspections and complete mandatory checklists.
- Ensure all loads (materials, equipment) are secure and legally compliant before transport.
- Immediately report any accidents, incidents, or vehicle defects to the Supervisor.
Operational Duties:
- Safely transport materials, equipment, and personnel to and from designated site locations.
- Plan efficient routes while strictly adhering to traffic laws and delivery schedules.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date trip logs, delivery notes, and all vehicle documentation.
Vehicle Care & Housekeeping:
- Ensure the assigned vehicle is kept clean, roadworthy, and presented in a professional manner.
- Adhere to company procedures for fuel management and vehicle parking.
Minimum Requirements
- Qualifications & Certificates:
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
- Valid Code 10 Driver’s Licence.
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- Valid Medical Fitness Certificate.
- Construction / Industrial Safety Induction (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-4 years of proven driving experience with Code 10 vehicles.
- Previous experience in a construction, industrial, logistics, or shutdown environment is essential.
