About the Role
Join Durban’s Parks & Leisure team as a Child Minder, providing critical care for children separated from families along the beachfront. This rewarding position offers flexible shifts with meaningful community impact.
Key Responsibilities
🏖️ Beachfront Safety:
- Supervise children at designated beach areas
- Maintain secure temporary shelters
📝 Documentation:
- Log child custody details (arrival/departure times)
- Record guardian verification processes
🍽️ Child Care:
- Prepare/serve 3 daily meals (overnight shifts)
- Provide emotional support and comfort
🚻 Personal Care:
- Assist with bathroom visits
- Ensure clean bedding/clothing availability
Requirements
✅ Essential:
- Basic education (primary school minimum)
- 3+ months childcare/related experience
- Strong ethical conduct
🌟 Preferred:
- Secondary education
- 6+ months experience (hospitality/security background accepted)
Skills Needed:
✔️ Patience with distressed children
✔️ Clear verbal communication
✔️ Basic record-keeping
Work Conditions
