About the Role

Join Vaal Central Water as a General Assistant and play a vital role in maintaining essential water infrastructure. This hands-on position offers diverse responsibilities in operations and maintenance within the utilities sector.

Key Responsibilities

🔧 Maintenance & Operations:

  • Assist with pipeline repairs (excavation, bedding, replacement)
  • Conduct weekly inspections of pipelines, manholes, and reservoirs
  • Maintain pump stations and treatment plant equipment

🛠️ Technical Support:

  • Perform welding and trench digging as needed
  • Repair pumps, valves, and mechanical systems

🧹 Site Maintenance:

  • Cleaning, painting, grass cutting
  • Unblock sewer lines and maintain sewer plants

⚠️ Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and wear PPE

Requirements

âś… Essential:

  • Grade 10 certificate
  • Physical stamina for manual labor
  • Willingness to learn

âś… Advantageous:

  • Experience with treatment plants/pump stations
  • Valid driver’s license

âś… Attributes:

  • Strong work ethic
  • Team player with safety awareness
