About the Role
The Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport seeks a General Worker to maintain museum facilities and assist with artifact conservation. This is a stable government position contributing to cultural heritage preservation.
Key Responsibilities
🧹 Facility Maintenance:
- Clean museum galleries, offices, and public areas
- Handle specialized cleaning of exhibition cases
- Assist with event setup/breakdown
🏛️ Cultural Support:
- Follow museum conservation protocols
- Handle artifacts with care
- Adhere to safety standards
Requirements
✔ Essential:
- Basic literacy (ABET Level 4 acceptable)
- Understanding of cleaning chemicals
- Knowledge of Batho Pele principles
✔ Skills:
- Communication (verbal/written)
- Teamwork & time management
- Conflict resolution
