About the Position
Sappi is seeking a motivated Artisan Assistant to join our Ngodwana Mill team. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for technical-minded individuals to gain hands-on experience in equipment maintenance and repair while working alongside skilled artisans.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of mill equipment
- Obtain “authorized workman” certification for lock-out procedures
- Proper waste handling and disposal according to safety standards
- Correct tool selection and maintenance
- Operate mobile equipment (licenses provided)
- Support artisans during breakdowns and maintenance tasks
- Equipment transportation as needed
- Maintain safe work environment through proper housekeeping
Requirements
✅ Essential:
- Grade 12 certificate with strong Mathematics & Science results
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to learn technical skills
✅ Advantageous:
- N3 Engineering Science (NQF Level 4)
- Basic maintenance/repair experience
- Technical aptitude
