Job Purpose
To ensure the effective execution of sales and the meticulous control of stock within the branch. The Sales Clerk is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, driving sales through product knowledge, and maintaining accurate inventory records to support branch operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide efficient, professional service to walk-in customers at the branch.
- Identify and promote additional products to customers to enhance sales and meet their needs.
- Monitor stock levels and place orders with suppliers or the procurement department.
- Receive stock deliveries, verify counts, and ensure accuracy.
- Ensure all received stock is correctly priced and shelved.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly stock counts to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Apply irrigation product knowledge to assist customers effectively.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Grade 12 qualification.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a direct sales or retail environment.
Technical Knowledge & Competencies:
- Good knowledge of AFGRI Retail’s product range (Agricultural inputs, irrigation, etc.).
- Computer literacy.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Understanding of relevant policies and procedures.
Behavioural Competencies:
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Business acumen and customer awareness.
- Excellent time management and accountability.
- Initiative for self-development.
- Conceptual ability and attention to detail.
Advantageous Qualifications:
- Formal qualification in Sales, Retail, or Agriculture.
- Specific knowledge of irrigation systems and products.
