Main Purpose of the Job
Responsible to perform and supervise (when necessary) daily Electrical repairs, installations and troubleshooting of Electrical equipment and systems across the business unit according to legislation and standards, including the installation and maintenance of wiring, lighting systems and Electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers.
Key Performance Areas
- Maintenance & Repairs: Respond to requests, diagnose system/equipment faults, and complete electrical repairs and installations in line with preventative maintenance plans.
- Installations & Testing: Set up wiring and electrical systems to specification, test new installations for proper performance, and locate shorts and system breaks.
- Compliance & Safety: Inspect and test electrical systems to ensure compliance with safety regulations. Audit supplies, machinery, and systems for risks, compatibility, and safety.
- Supervisory Duties: Supervise contractors/junior staff, complete job cards and inspection registers, control stock and tools, and follow up on fault logging.
- Planning & Communication: Manage daily job schedules, prepare tools and PPE, and provide feedback to management on job status and challenges.
- Knowledge & Development: Keep up to date with latest trade knowledge, safety regulations (SHE), and company procedures for electrical work.
Job Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Grade 12/Matric or equivalent.
- Recognised Trade Test / 2-Year Diploma as an Electrician.
- Minimum of 2 years’ hands-on experience performing electrical repairs.
- Supervisory experience is an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office, IFS & Pragma.
- Working experience of SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) legislation and standards.
- Preference: Registration with SAFMA or other accredited engineering bodies.
- Preference: A valid driver’s licence.
